I had the honor of creating an illustration banner for the New Zealand Women’s Rights Party, supporting a government petition to mark September 19th—New Zealand’s Suffrage Day—as a national public holiday. As the first country to grant women the right to vote, this project was a tribute to the pioneers of the movement and the generations of women who have continued to fight for equality.
Inspired by Art Deco aesthetics, I wove geometric lines with the bold suffrage colours of the party, incorporating New Zealand elements like ferns to ground the piece in its cultural identity. The design formed a visual timeline, spotlighting key figures from the suffrage movement—including the vital contributions of Māori women—emphasising an inclusive and collective fight for rights. At its core, the banner symbolises strength, achievement, and the forward momentum of progress.
